CANADA STILL DAY 6 - DEPARTURE

Still Monday 20.06.2011 Day 171

After our time in Bluffer´s Park, we stopped at Girlies special supermarket Top Food.

We needed stuff for dinner and some food souvenirs for me. Girlie remembered my preference for their yummy mangoes and had a heart to buy another box.

For dinner we had Sinigang . It´s a very yummy sour soup. Girlie made it with tomatoes, ginger, salmon, string beans, spinach and tamarind powder that made it sour.

Afterwards we had tons of yummy mangoes for dessert. Sad to know they were the last for a long, long time.

Later the time has come - time to say goodbye - and the time as I no longer couldn´t detain my tears.

Nitz was so kind to drive me to the airport... and had to resist more of my tears! Another big hug and thank you for that,Nitz. Good he left the airport fast, so it wasn´t more hard for me.

Thanks for every hug, every heart-to-heart conversation, your trust and kindness and letting me be a part of your family. Hoping to see you again, some time.

CANADA DAY 6 - BLUFFER´S PARK

Monday 20.06.2011 Day 171
my last day in Canada

Seagull waiting for feed

Isn´t that a beautiful place?

Girlie in action

It was such a beautiful sunny day, today! Canada presents its most attractive side for goodbye.

As beautiful as the day was... so sad it was.

Before we went home, we rested a while at the lakeshore. Sat on a bench, looked into the distance, listening to the waves and feeling the wind against the skin.

The view there

While I sat there I felt more and more sad. Tears ran down my face and my throat felt constricted (tried to hide this from Girlie and Nitz) knowing I have to leave Canada tonight.

It was so hard at this time - and it´s now again, while I´m writing these words. Miss you all so much!!!

Girlie has promised to show me the Niagara Falls during my visit in Canada.

Today was the day!

On our way home from Chicago to Canada Nitz was so kind to make a little detour - so at the close of the day we could enjoy a wonderful evening at the Niagara Falls.

In appreciation of the wonderful days and experiences (in Canada and Chicago) I invite all for dinner at Kelsey´s. We were happy with the offer there (and it was one of the few which was open) especially with the yummy four cheese spinach dip... we ordered twice.

CANADA DAY 4 - USA DAY 1

Thursday 16.06.2011 Day 167

Rental car arrived

Welcome to the USA

Refueling

Bong, Girlie, Rafael and Nitz

Girlie and Mayan

A big journey was waiting for us today.

It takes longer than expected until the rental car arrived (Guess what? The renter didn´t found the key. Can this be true?) - and before we could started our really far journey to Chicago/USA.

The kids were as good as gold during the whole trip - that lasted 8 or 9 hours I think. That's never happened to me before (with other children). I pay you a high compliment - well done!!

Also a high compliment to Nitz, who is a very good and safe driver.

We were awaited by Oliver (Bong), the husband of Girlies cousin Mary Ann (Mayan) and the children Marcus and Olivia. Bong has cooked a really delicious filipino soup. So good to be awaited and to be spoiled in such a pleasant way.

After work Mayan joined in - and we all had a funny evening playing Rock Band.

Also this family welcomed me warmhearted and I felt very comfortable in their house and circle.

Thanks for all Mayan and Bong!! It was a pleasure for me to get to know you! I hope, we´ll see us again someday!!

Today was our shopping day ;-) and Mommy Melly´s big day for her Citizenship Ceremony.

In the afternoon - exhausted from our shopping tour *hihihi* - we rested a while at home and enjoyed lots of refreshing mangoes - the very best I ever ate. So sad that they aren´t available in Europe.

At the instance of Mommy Melly´s big day we were invited again - for BBQ at Kuya Ed´s house.

There I met more warmhearted friends of Ed and Girlie (Tita Tess, Josie and Edmund).

It was another wonderful day among friends - and I enjoyed every minute.

It was my first time visiting a part of Girlie´s relatives.

We were invited for BBQ from Girlies brother Ed and his likeable family. They gave me such a warm welcome - I´ve never expected. Felt comfortable in a minute.

Salamat for the wonderful time you spent with me, for each word and every hug. I´ve never met such warmhearted people as you and girlie with her family.

CANADA DAY 2

Tuesday 14.06.2011 Day 165

The Distillery District

St.Lawrence Market

Down Town

Another sunny and interesting day!

First we went to Ontario Science Center. It may be deeply interesting for children from ten upwards and school groups with their teachers.

So we left after a short time for the Distillery District.

A special flair prevails - I like the antique touch there very much.

We had a little snack in " The Sweet Escape Patisserie"

Later we visited St.Lawrence Market (bought different Canadian Souvenirs) and strolled through Down Town. Amazing scenery there... impressive contrasts between the giant office towers and the age-old architecture.
